Lanarkshire Couple wins A Taste of Arran

Mr & Mrs Steele of Blantyre recently won a Taste of Arran Luxury Food Hamper which was presented to them last weekend by young Rory Morrison who travelled all the way from Arran to deliver it in person.

Mr & Mrs Steele have been regular visitors to Arran for nearly 30 years and on one of their trips to the island earlier in the year the couple took part in the VisitArran visitor survey and were entered into the prize draw. Their names were selected from around 1000 entrants at a meeting on the island’s Auchrannie Hotel in December.

Rory’s mum, Maureen McKenna, is the Development Manager for Taste of Arran, a group representing 11 Arran based food and drink producers, and by coincidence his grandparents also live in Blantyre. Both Rory and his mum thought it would be a great gesture to surprise the Steeles and deliver the prize in person, so on a recent visit to the mainland that’s exactly what they did.

The couple were delighted with the hamper which included a range of Arran Cheeses, oatcakes, mustard and of course a bottle of Arran Malt whisky, all of which should keep them going until their next trip to Arran.
